Military families are often required to pack up and move across the country or even overseas – only one of many challenges these families face. The Augusta Business Daily found a Facebook advertisement for a website that helps them locate housing and connect them to companies in their area that serve their unique business needs. Founded in 2004, the Automated Housing Referral Network, which has helped over 1 million military members find housing, also gives businesses the opportunity to advertise their goods and services to service members and their families.
For soldiers stationed at Fort Gordon, the site lists houses and apartments for sale or rent near the base and maintains an extensive directory of local businesses that partner with military families. According to the site, each company’s listing includes photos, a detailed description of the services it provides, a location map, and contact information. The cost for businesses is $75 for six months in most areas, and companies can decide how long their advertisement is posted to the site.
