Aiken Technical College, SC Bar partner to offer law classes for non-lawyers’ course

If you are interested in learning more about the law or envision yourself as an up-and-coming attorney, Aiken Tech and the South Carolina Bar are offering an eight-week law school course for non-lawyers beginning February 21.

This course is taught by licensed attorneys and judges and covers a variety of topics, including 16 common legal issues, such as:

  • Overview of State Courts
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • Bankruptcy Law
  • Child Protection Hearings
  • Consumer Law and Debt Collection
  • Criminal Law
  • Education
  • Employment Law
  • Family Law
  • Health Care and Elder Law
  • Immigration
  • Juvenile Justice
  • Real Estate and Landlord Tenant Law
  • SC Worker’s Compensation
  • Torts
  • Wills, Estates, and Probate

Classes will be held on Tuesdays, from February 21 through April 11, from 6-9 p.m. The course fee is $45 per person and includes the textbook. The registration deadline is Wednesday, February 15.

To register, contact the Aiken Technical College Enrollment Services Center at (803) 508-7263 or visit the center in the Ashley J. Little Administration Building (100 Building), Room 152. The Enrollment Services Center is open Monday-Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
