Another shopping center coming to Davis Road

A property near the intersection of Davis and Washington roads in Martinez is on its way to becoming a new shopping center.

The former Green Thumb Nursery building and land at 110 Davis Road were purchased by a shopping center investor who contracted with Clifton Construction to build a 26,000-square-foot center on the property.

While Thompson Wrecking Company finishes demolition work, Clifton Construction is beginning site work and construction and Jordan Trotter Commercial Real Estate is starting the pre-leasing process.

Jordan Trotter is offering spaces for $20 per square foot, well below the pricing of recently built centers, and will work with retailers on sub-dividing space on a first-come, first-served basis. Agents estimate about 17,000 cars will drive by each day.

“It will most likely be the summer of 2023 before the center opens,” said Rob Clifton, CEO of Clifton Construction.

The Shoppes on Davis

This quadrant of West Augusta is in the midst of a supply-and-demand situation. Within a mile of the proposed center are two centers – the Bristlecone Square Center (since remodeling called Shoppes On Davis) and the Crane Creek Shopping Center with Sprouts Farmers Market as the anchor store – with more than 90 percent occupancy.
