New hotel coming to Grovetown

Visitors to the Augusta area will soon have a new hotel option in Columbia County. A Maryland-based hotel development group has purchased a 2.7-acre lot and plans to build a new Fairfield by Marriott hotel (see photo above provided by Meybohm) near I-20 in Grovetown. Construction on the hotel, which will be located next to Home2 Suites near both Kroger and Walmart, is expected to begin by the end of the year. Another local company to help Kentucky tornado victims

David Byrd wants to provide prompt relief to those who need it the most. Byrd – President of Southern Beverage Packers Inc. in Appling, says the KAMO company will deliver at least 3,000 cases of Springtime bottled water to those affected by the tornadoes in Kentucky during the week of Dec. 27th. “It’s important for small businesses to help communities in need due to our quick reaction time to provide basic needs,” he states. Local credit union employees help community for the holiday season

Employees of SRP Federal Credit Union have been active in supporting local charities in various ways throughout the month of December. They filled 66 stockings for The Salvation Army’s Stuff a Stocking campaign and supported the charitable organization’s Angel Tree program by donating gifts for 39 children, while 16 employees volunteered as bell ringers for this year’s Red Kettle campaign. Workers also helped The Salvation Army of Aiken distribute stockings and gifts. In addition, they filled containers of toys for The Augusta Chronicle’s annual Empty Stocking Fund campaign.
