Business hopes to grow during Masters

Running a business or a household and don’t have time to shop or to do a laundry list of necessary tasks? Help has arrived.

Carol Shikle knows what it’s like to be a working parent with a never-ending to-do list, but she now helps her clients check off items on their lists.

Shikle owns Hop 2 It Errand Service, a business she established in Nov. 2021, offering a variety of services, including picking up prescriptions, mailing packages, buying gifts, making gift baskets, and scheduling home service appointments. She also helps her clients with home organization projects and moving in or out of their homes.

“I was doing a lot of these things on a personal level,” she said. “I thought, let’s turn this into a business.”

Shikle serves a variety of clients, such as working professionals, new parents, elderly people, and those recovering from surgery. Some use her services once, while others hire her on an ongoing basis. Because she provides many different services based on her clients’ needs, no two days are the same.

Need a gift basket delivered for a client? Hop 2 It can do that.

Shikle is currently helping some of her clients get their homes ready for the Masters.

“I like the flexibility of it,” she said.

Prior to launching Hop 2 It, she worked in various jobs, including human resources and substitute teaching. Shikle doesn’t deal with contracts or subscriptions. Instead, she charges an hourly rate of $30 or sells various packages. She also offers gift certificates.

Her tagline is “Just a hop, skip, or a jump away.” Shikle’s normal business hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends are by appointment only. According to her website, she will travel to homes within a 20-mile radius of Evans.

Shikle enjoys helping her clients’ complete important tasks and achieve better work-life balance.

“Everybody needs a little help once in a while,” she said.
