A few years ago, on Valentine’s Day, my wife, Rebecca, enjoyed a very nice dinner at Suite 10 Restaurant & Bar, which was at 4446 Washington Road in Evans, near Shane’s Rib Shack and Vibe Nutrition.
Soon after that, we were disappointed to find out that the restaurant had closed its doors, and another eatery was moving in to take its place. At the time, I assumed the new restaurant wouldn’t be nearly as good, but I recently discovered I was wrong when we enjoyed another nice dinner at Rally Point Grille, which was founded by U.S. Marine Corps veterans.
Rally Point serves a variety of menu items, including burgers, sandwiches, salads, and wings, as well as beer, wine, and liquor. For our appetizer, we ordered chips and queso and both enjoyed a cocktail called FUBAR, a military acronym that describes a hopeless situation. For our meals, I ordered the bacon jam burger with a side of applesauce, and Rebecca ordered a Reuben with onion rings.
The food was delicious. I’m not sure who developed the idea of combining bacon and jam. The invention might not be significant enough to win a Nobel Peace Prize, but he or she should be recognized.
Our server was in training, but she and her trainer provided excellent service. Rally Point was crowded, but it was quiet enough for a business meeting. When we were there, the restaurant hosted a paint party, but it never got too loud.
The restaurant is also a great value. Our entire check came to about $67. I would compare Rally Point to Red Robin, which serves burgers priced at $13 to $20 each. I didn’t find a bacon jam burger on its menu, but the one I ordered fits in that price range at $13.99.
Rebecca and I vowed to return to Rally Point very soon.
