Georgia film tax credit survives legislative review

The Georgia Legislature passed hundreds of bills, both statewide items and those addressing local concerns, in the just-ended 2024 legislative session and sent them to Gov. Brian Kemp (R) for his signature. House Bill 1180 was not among them which is good news for movie-making in Georgia. The bill would have revised one of the state’s most popular tax credit incentives, the one available to filmmakers to entice them to film productions in the Peach State. DIY franchise closing in CSRA; other location remains

An Evans franchisee decided to close up shop after three years in business. April Barbin and Lindsay Gay posted on Facebook that they were closing their AR Workshop. According to their website, they are cousins by marriage and best friends. Innovating students with an eye to the future

Teams of graduate and undergraduate students at Augusta University identified local challenges and worked to create solutions. It was part of the Annual Innovate Pitch Competition, held March 28 at the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center in Downtown Augusta. Last week, six Augusta National Women’s Amateur Players and a few golf legends spent an afternoon helping more than 25 young golfers from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Augusta (BGCGA). Union Lofts Apartments debuts in Downtown Augusta

Union Lofts Apartments held a ribbon cutting on April 2 at 513 James Brown Boulevard to celebrate the arrival of new living spaces in Downtown Augusta. The event was free and open to the public. The three buildings, located at 501, 509, and 513 James Brown Boulevard, were constructed in the 1890’s. Having been vacant for almost five decades, they were nearing being demolished.
