Training program to benefit local construction companies

Ben McGhee (pictured at right) works for a local construction company and has been trying to find a pre apprenticeship program for his employees. McGhee – Plumbing Superintendent for Gold Mech in Augusta, was excited to learn more about the Construction Ready program, which prepares Georgia residents for a variety of skilled construction jobs, such as welding, landscaping, and roofing. Corporation helps local Boy Scouts prepare for future career options

A major engineering and construction firm has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America Georgia-Carolina Council to help young men and women earn one of three STEM-based merit badges. Local business collects items for Kentucky tornado relief

Two local business leaders have teamed up to collect items for tornado victims. Harris Weinstein – President of KAMO Facility & Supplies and Darryl Leech – Vice President and General Manager of Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, want to help those affected by the tornadoes that swept across Kentucky (see photo above) on Friday, Dec. 10 and Saturday, Dec. 11. A pair of local companies helps to feed the hungry

In the last few months, a local bank and SRS contractor donated $40,000 to feed the hungry in the Augusta area. $30,000 from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions will provide 60,000 meals for children, seniors and families in need. Queensborough National Bank & Trust, which has multiple branches throughout the CSRA, presented a $10,000 check to Golden Harvest Food Bank. Local economist shares 2022 outlook

Unlike many CSRA employers, Lane Keen’s business hasn’t experienced a labor shortage. Keen – owner of Keen Signs & Graphics, recently moved his business from Reynolds Street to a much larger location at 1467 Broad St. “We have low turnover,” he says.
