CSRA companies help Paceline raise $1 Million for local cancer research

Last night at the Georgia Cancer Center, a major milestone was met. Since Paceline’s inception in 2018, more than $1 million and 100% of donations by Augusta area companies and citizens have gone to the GCC for innovative cancer research.

There are many, many more miles to go with future PaceDays, Paceline’s signature annual Fall Event, which saw more than 400 people ride bikes, raise money, and raise awareness in 2022.

KAMO is one of the area’s leaders in providing healthy and clean workspaces in the CSRA. The company has participated in three rides, featuring a solo rider for one year to seven riders and most recently, 13 employees in 2022.

Marketing Director, Allie Bentley coordinates the teams’ efforts. She said KAMO raised $9,736.64 for the recent PaceDay event.

“Part of KAMO’s Core Focus is supporting the communities we serve. KAMO GIVES is our initiative to ensure that our region benefits from not only participation, but in-kind donations to ensure non-profit organizations such as PACELINE, can run at their fullest capacity,” said Bentley.

Dozens of other CSRA companies participate like Queensborough National Bank and Trust and Cranston Engineering.

The reason 100% of the money raised goes to cancer research is because of the generous operational funding given by Georgia Power, Southern Nuclear, Synovus Bank, and other supportive companies. Paceline has staff to raise money, coordinate volunteers, plan rides, and produce events.

At last night’s check reveal and awards ceremony, fundraisers, participants, and volunteers were recognized and members of Paceline, the Georgia Cancer Center, and the MCG Foundation were there to celebrate.

Also in attendance were researchers who have already benefited from Paceline funding. The Paceline community has funded 13 innovative cancer research projects, from cancer prevention to advancing treatments for multiple types of cancer (as well as addressing racial disparities).

Specific grant award winners from 2022 funds will be announced later this spring.

“The majority of our KAMO family has been affected by cancer to some extent. Knowing the funds we raise go directly to the Georgia Cancer Center, it’s a very easy decision to support this cause,” added Bentley.
