While it’s too late to make any changes that would affect your 2022 individual and business tax returns, David Ussery has practical advice for preparing for your 2023 returns.
Ussery, a certified public accountant and partner with SME CPAs, will be the guest speaker for this month’s special edition Third Thursday Business Builder, hosted by the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Jan. 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Chamber Conference Room. His presentation will be titled “Take Control of Your Taxes in 2023.”

“One of the best ways to prepare for income taxes is to be proactive and start early in the new tax year,” he said. “For individuals, it can be as simple as checking the first pay stub to ensure enough income tax is withheld; for businesses, it can be ensuring there are sufficient financial records so that tax-saving opportunities can be identified and monitored.”
Ussery will also discuss 2023 tax law changes and the correct ways to prepare financial documents. “These items, as well as other common areas that each individual and business owner should be aware of, will be covered,” he said.
Registration is required, and the deadline to register is Monday, Jan. 23 by 2 p.m. Because space is limited, the Chamber has asked that only one representative from each company attend the event. The event is free for Chamber members and $15 for prospective members.
