This evening, chefs from several local restaurants will participate in a cooking competition to help a non-profit organization that serves children and teens in the CSRA.
Burger Battle will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta headquarters, located at 624 Chafee Ave. Restaurants competing in the sold-out event include Soul City Pizza, WifeSaver, Doc’s Porchside, and Finch & Fifth. Each chef will prepare specialty hamburgers, and attendees will choose which one is the best.
All proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs, which offer after-school programs and summer camps, among other initiatives. Sponsors include American Concrete and Recteq.

Abel Brown Southern Kitchen & Oyster Bar Chef and owner, Todd Schafer, is one of the chefs competing in this year’s Burger Battle.
“We are participating in the Burger Battle because it’s fun, it supports a great cause and it’s a great event for the community,” Schafer said. “Plus, I have to defend my title.”
Edgar’s Grille will also participate in the competition.

“Our mission here at Helms College and Edgar’s Grille is to help people develop their God-given gifts through education, work, and career services,” said the college’s Director of Hospitality and Culinary Education, Chef Kristina Dahl. “We think it’s important to give back to the Boys and Girls Clubs to help foster relationships with the young people of our community.”
