With just over a week left in June, The Salvation Army of Augusta is making a final push to collect boxed fans and bottled water through its partnership with local restaurant Tacocat. These donations provide relief to those most vulnerable to the summer heat, especially seniors and individuals struggling with the high cost of air conditioning.
“Summers in Augusta aren’t just uncomfortable—they can be life-threatening, especially for seniors and individuals unable to afford the high cost of running their air conditioners,” said Major Jonathan Raymer of The Salvation Army of Augusta. “Donations of fans and bottled water are essential this time of year, ensuring we can offer immediate relief to those who need it most.”
Community members are encouraged to act quickly by dropping off boxed fans and bottled water at Tacocat (208 10th Street, Augusta, GA 30901) or at any Salvation Army location, including the Center of Hope, Kroc Center, or Family Stores, before the end of the month.
“We’re honored to support this initiative with The Salvation Army,” said Sean Wight, Tacocat owner. “As a local business, it’s important to us to help our neighbors stay safe during the hottest months of the year. We hope the community joins us in making a difference.”
In addition to physical donations, financial contributions are critically needed during the summer months. The Salvation Army’s Project Share program provides utility assistance to individuals and families struggling with increased utility bills due to extreme heat.
