Young entrepreneur elevates his business in competitive car cosmetic market

Chandler Brewer started his car detailing business with $25 worth of products, and about six months later, he’s now living the American Dream of being a successful entrepreneur.

Brewer, 22, co-founded Elevate Auto Cosmetic Lab with his fiancée, Kamalani Straus, in October.

Despite his age, he’s always aspired to become a business owner. While he was still in middle school, Brewer began working with his dad on his family’s vacation rental property business in Tybee Island. Prior to launching Elevate, he also worked for Rapid Restoration Auto Lab in Evans, where he was mentored by its owner, Jamie Camp.

“It was my turn to get my feet wet and step out,” Brewer said.

The faith-based business provides a variety of cosmetic services, including ceramic coating, window tinting and paint correction. Brewer thanks God for giving him the opportunity to become a business owner. He chose the name, Elevate, to signify his Christian faith.

He offers various packages that allow customers to choose the services they want. His shop is located at 476 Flowing Wells Road, Unit F1 in Augusta, where he rents space from Ryan Gill, owner of Brush Strokes Quality Painting. Gill was also his first customer.

While starting any business is difficult, he credits Straus with helping Elevate grow and succeed. They run the business together.

“She’s the brains of the operation, the emotional support and stability,” Brewer said. “I’m just the guy who makes cars look nice.”

Elevate has many competitors throughout the CSRA. With so much competition, he said attracting customers has been a challenge, but Straus’s marketing skills have helped the business overcome that hurdle.

“It’s kind of a niche market,” Brewer said. “It’s hard to get to the consumer.”
