Custom golf cart business opens in Evans

A new business in Evans gives customers the opportunity to build a custom golf cart or give their old cart a makeover. Kart King, 4158 Washington Road, Suite 11, celebrated its grand opening yesterday. Until now, the company has provided retail sales and service at 1697 Broad St. in Augusta’s King Mill Park, but the retail side of the business has moved to the Evans store, according to Chandler Hall, Kart King’s head of operations and owner, Barry Hall’s brother. “We’ve decided to use the other location as our shop,”

Social Security cost of living adjustment is the biggest in over 40 years

Americans drawing money from Social Security received some good news for 2023 with a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) designed to keep up with inflation. The Social Security Administration (SAA) announced last month that it would implement an increase in benefits of 8.7 percent. The new rate will go into effect in January. Employment in the Augusta Metropolitan Statistical Area inched up by 200 jobs in September to stand at 244,400, but employment locally remains below pre-pandemic levels.
