Do you know a young, rising star within an organization? Each year, the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce and Augusta Magazine honor a select group of successful young professionals in the CSRA. Since 2009, the Chamber and magazine have compiled their list of Top 10 in 10 Young Professionals to Watch. These professionals, who are all between the ages of 25 and 35, represent a variety of professions and include attorneys, bankers, educators, and business owners. Every year, nonprofits, such as churches and colleges, solicit donations for Giving Tuesday, but this year, the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Foundation wants to raise funds to address the local labor shortage. “We will be accepting Giving Tuesday donations until the end of the week (Friday, Dec. 3),” says Olivia Reich, the Chamber’s Communications Manager. “We are at $2,250, and our goal is $5,000.” That was the total at about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Mark Douglass knows how to light up a room with “war stories” and a lifetime of lessons learned in just a short time taking his barbecue sauce to market.
