Bank with local branches merges with another bank

A bank with multiple branches throughout the CSRA is merging with another bank. Cadence Bank, which has locations on Wrightsboro Road, Wheeler Road, and Walton Way, as well as East Hill Street in Thomson, merged with BancorpSouth on Friday, Oct. 29. The new bank will carry the Cadence name. Founded in Mississippi in 1876, Bancorp has 420 branches throughout the U.S., including Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Tennessee, as well as Texas and Illinois. German company hiring 125 in Augusta to make dent in CSRA job loss

A German metal recycling company is coming to the CSRA and bringing with it 125 skilled manufacturing jobs. Yesterday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Aurubis AG has authorized the construction of a $340 million recycling and secondary-smelting plant – the only one of its kind in the U.S. – located at 4760 Mike Padgett Highway in Augusta Corporate Park.
