Augusta chiropractor plans to bless local families this Christmas season

Dr. Chris Walker wants to make this Christmas season a little brighter for some less fortunate families in the CSRA. Walker – owner of Walker Chiropractic in Augusta, is participating in a promotion called Christmas Blessing with the Christian non-profit radio station 88.3 WAFJ to help at least four families overcome their greatest financial needs, such as buying presents or paying past-due bills. The promotion asks people to nominate local families in need by filling out a brief application on the WAFJ website. The application deadline is Sunday, Nov. 14

Local bank makes near $300,000 of donations within a few months

Because of its efforts to provide equitable health care for uninsured and underserved patients in the CSRA, Christ Community Health has received a $50,000 grant. Christ Community has been named this year’s Bank of America Neighborhood Champion. Local college receives $100,000 grant to fund short-term training programs

Bank of America has invested $100,000 in a new short-term job training initiative developed by Augusta Technical College to address the local labor shortage. The initiative is called FAST, which stands for Focused, Accelerated Skills Training. The college’s Corporate and Community Education Department will use the funding to cover the cost of three certification programs: Manufacturing Fundamentals Bootcamp, forklift and OSHA training, and medical scribe skills. Local attorney to hold golf clinic for special children

Brandon Dial understands the unique challenges that come with raising a special needs child, so he wanted to find a way to raise funds and show support for local families of children with special needs. Insurance agents team up to support local nonprofit

A local Christian nonprofit that provides medical and dental services for uninsured and underserved people just received a $7,500 grant, thanks to a team of Augusta State Farm agents. Founded in 2007, Christ Community Health has two clinics in downtown Augusta located at 1226 D’Antignac St. and 127 Telfair St. The agents who presented the check on Thursday, Oct. 7 were Eddie Bussey, Matt Willis, Mike Ingham, and BJ Jordan. Local Mexican restaurant offers free meal for first responders

A local Mexican restaurant wants to show appreciation for law enforcement personnel. Taqueria El Rey, which has locations in both Martinez and Grovetown, has a special offer for all first responders.
