A major engineering and construction firm has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America Georgia-Carolina Council to help young men and women earn one of three STEM-based merit badges. In the last few months, a local bank and SRS contractor donated $40,000 to feed the hungry in the Augusta area. $30,000 from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions will provide 60,000 meals for children, seniors and families in need. Queensborough National Bank & Trust, which has multiple branches throughout the CSRA, presented a $10,000 check to Golden Harvest Food Bank. A local printing company has donated $2,500 to a charity that raises funds for cancer research in the CSRA. Phoenix Printing Group made the donation to Paceline – a local organization that donates all funds it raises to the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University. Phoenix is one of Paceline’s many corporate partners, which also include Georgia Power, Synovus Bank, and Bristol Myers Squibb. “They’re very much a part of our mission, which is to cure cancer faster,” says Martyn Jones, the organization’s president. “They’re critical in maintaining our support

While many look forward to feasting on turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie, Henry Scheer enjoys serving others on Thanksgiving. Scheer – co-owner of Tbonz Steakhouse – has served Thanksgiving dinners to needy families and children (see above photo courtesy News 12) in his restaurant for many years. Many in the CSRA face significant financial burdens, and Christmas shopping only compounds those burdens, but a local law firm wants to help. Hawk Law Group is currently accepting applications for its second annual Hawk Helps program.
