Couple to launch dessert business in Grovetown

Steven and Kim Studdard knew people were driving from Grovetown and Harlem to Evans to buy frozen desserts at Vampire Penguin, so they decided to launch their own. The couple hopes to open their franchise located at 419 Lewiston Road, Suite 2 in Grovetown later this week. Steven said they’re just waiting for their business license. Kim got the idea from her friend, who owns the Evans franchise location. “All this was her idea,” he said. “My wife really fell in love with the idea of opening a Vampire Penguin.”

Downtown pizza business moving down the street

The downtown Mellow Mushroom is moving this summer, but don’t worry – it’s not going to go far. According to Katie Cason, media strategist with M3 Agency in Augusta, owners Shawn and Katy Ledford plan to move their pizza business about a block and across the street, from 1167 Broad St. to 1102 Broad St., the former home of 1102 Downtown Bar & Grill. Local companies develop initiatives to support nonprofits

KAMO Facility Solutions & Supplies is celebrating its 75th anniversary by giving back to the local community. Last year, the company developed its KAMO Gives initiative, but it has supported CSRA non-profit organizations for many years, according to Allie Bentley.
