Conducting business is now everything, everywhere, all at once

This weekend, Everything Everywhere All at Once swept the Academy Awards with seven gold statues. When you think of technology and the way it’s transformed business, it’s the perfect analogy.

In the past, we were stuck at our desks, with no ability to conduct business on the go. Fast forward to 2023 and we see a business being conducted at the office, at our homes, and even on vacation (which draws mixed emotions). These recent productivity developments are largely due to the growth of specific technology that keeps our pipelines full no matter where we are.

For example, Microsoft Zoom, allows you to conduct business wherever you may be. If you are not familiar with the technology, it allows you to perform meetings from anywhere you are.

With a simple link emailed to all invited participants, you can click to sign on from any device that can access the internet. You can log in from a mobile device or desktop. Zoom is not the only platform that allows for virtual meetings. Other options are Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Skype. Each has its specific features, but basically with the same idea that you can set up and conduct virtual meetings from anywhere.

Skype was one of the early virtual conferencing software that folks used often, in more recent years Zoom, Teams, and most recently Google Meet have all become a more common options. Mainly because Microsoft has encouraged the use of Zoom and Teams within their recent device releases. With Google being such a big technology provider, Google Meet has also become popular quickly.

In terms of which ones to use for your upcoming virtual meeting, I would recommend a platform that is most familiar with your invitees. Since most devices are equipped with the software for Zoom and it’s usually set up to run right out of the box, I tend to use Zoom most often. If I had to rank them though, I would choose Zoom first, then Teams, Google Meet, and last Skype, mainly due to the scope of features offered for the meeting.

The team at Richardson Professional Solutions, that provides back-office support for Augusta clients, uses Microsoft Teams to conduct their virtual meetings. The Marketing Director for the company, Payton Prather, says, “We love how well it integrates with all the Microsoft software. I prefer Teams over Zoom. It is much easier to hop on and brainstorm, share screen, mouse control, etc. with a coworker.”

The choice of which virtual meeting software to use is really a matter of preference and what you are trying to accomplish with your meeting.

So, the next time you are hosting a team meeting, but you have numerous appointments and can’t be in the office, remember you have options now. Just strike up one of these simple-to-use software options and send out a simple link and conduct that meeting wherever you happen to be.
