German company hiring 125 in Augusta to make dent in CSRA job loss

A German metal recycling company is coming to the CSRA and bringing with it 125 skilled manufacturing jobs. Yesterday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Aurubis AG has authorized the construction of a $340 million recycling and secondary-smelting plant – the only one of its kind in the U.S. – located at 4760 Mike Padgett Highway in Augusta Corporate Park. A national grocery store chain has made significant improvements to many of its locations, including three in the CSRA. Food Lion, which currently has 1,103 locations in 10 states, recently invested $127 million in remodeling 87 stores in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Pandemic derails start-up restaurant in Evans

Shemp and Petey’s restaurant on Washington Road opened in the summer and didn’t make it to fall—closing on August 28th. The restaurant offered up unique sandwiches and homemade pasta dishes with a local flair.
