Private aviation company helps local food bank prepare meals for the hungry

Many CSRA business leaders look forward to Masters Week because it gives them a chance to watch golf, go on vacation, or take some much-needed time off from work, but for Golden Harvest Food Bank, hunger never takes a vacation. On Thursday, a team from Wheels Up, a New York-based private aviation firm, volunteered to prepare and serve meals at The Master’s Table Soup Kitchen & Urban Farm located at 702 Fenwick St. The Master’s Table serves hot meals to local residents 365 days a year. Former home of popular downtown eatery now available

In November, owners of The Bee’s Knees, a downtown eatery that specialized in tapas, decided to close its doors after many years in business. But its former home is now available for lease, according to the Finem Group with Meybohm Commercial Properties. The more than 3,200-square-foot space is located at 211 10th St., next door to Manny’s Sports Off Broad and across the street from Tacocat. Local artist creates unique Masters designs for shoes

Anne Luckey has painted murals at various locations throughout the CSRA, but this week, her canvas is mobile. For the first time this year, Luckey, a local artist and owner of ArtsAnneCrafts, is painting unique Masters designs on sneakers just in time for the 2023 tournament. She was inspired to take on the project by one of her Facebook followers. Luckey has already completed seven or eight pairs of shoes and has several more waiting to be painted. Downtown businesses to participate in golf-themed retail crawl

Many people think downtown businesses are really busy during Masters Week, but that’s not the case, according to Jennifer Tinsley. Tinsley owns FIELD Botanicals located on 12th Street, one of 13 downtown businesses participating in a first-ever golf-themed shopping crawl next week called The 19th Hole. Businesses participating in the week-long event include Urban K9, Flowers on Broad, The Book Tavern, and Grantski Records. Local farm owners to host opening day event next weekend

Many organizations offer Easter egg hunts, but next weekend, owners of a local farm will host a major event with 2,000 eggs. Laura Russo and her husband, Jarett Acosta own the 70-acre Boondock Farms located at 755 Foreman St. in Jackson. Eat a sub and make a difference!

Jersey Mike’s sandwich locations are wrapping up their 13th Annual Month of Giving fundraising campaign with the traditional Day of Giving today.
