Long-time Martinez dry-cleaning business to close in two weeks

For decades, people have brought their clothes to Silverstein’s Cleaners. But Friday will be the last day to drop them off before the business closes its doors permanently at the end of the month, according to one of its employees. Fitting time to cook a Thanksgiving feast into your busy schedule can be tough, but a local restaurant is hoping to make that a little easier for you. New grocery store location to open tomorrow in south Augusta

Much of south Augusta is a food desert, but an international grocery store chain is launching a new location in that area that will help to alleviate the problem. ALDI will open its fifth CSRA store at 3121 Peach Orchard Road tomorrow, according to the company’s website. Other locations are in Augusta, North Augusta, Aiken, and Grovetown. “Adding another affordable grocery option for south Augusta is a great step forward in helping to alleviate the food deserts that plague areas of our city,” said Augusta’s District 8 Commissioner, Brandon Garrett.

Local law group accepting nominations to help struggling families

This year, many CSRA families have struggled to put food on the table, let alone buy Christmas presents. But a local law group wants to help. Downtown restaurant to close permanently next week

In less than a week, downtown Augusta will lose one of its long-time restaurants. Lincolnton brewery owner serves craft beers, community

Kyle McCloud initially wanted to open his business in Columbia County. But when his request was denied, McCloud turned to Lincoln County, which helped him find a building and wrote a law that would allow his type of business to open there. On Tuesday, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Mark Douglass spoke to the Club Car’s Veterans Employee Resource Group about his 40-plus year career in the military and his family tree of those who have served.
