Free Access: Google AdWords Keyword Research

We are looking at a high-level approach to keyword research for Google AdWords. This is using Google’s built-in tool which is great if you are just starting out. There are many tools available for more advanced research, like SEM Rush, Spyfu, and the like.

Use Google’s Keyword Planner tool to find keywords related to your business. Go to your AdWords account and click on the Keyword Planner Tool.

Now, you can click “Discover new keywords” and get started.

Uncovering fresh keyword concepts can be achieved in two approaches:

    1. Begin with keywords: Input relevant terms to your services or products. You can separate individual phrases using a comma followed by a space.
    2. Input your website and Google will attempt to omit terms not related to what you provide. Look for keywords with high search volume and low competition.

Once you click “Get results,” you’ll be presented with a list of related keywords to your input. These keywords have yet to be included in your plan, but you can use filters and categories to refine the list and find those that would be beneficial for your plan.

Selecting the checkbox beside each keyword that you would like to add to your plan is an effective way of managing keywords. Adding keywords to the “Saved keywords” section will store them within your plan, allowing you to arrange them later in an organized manner.

This efficient feature streamlines the process of scrolling through large lists of keywords and selecting the ones you’d like to add. Furthermore, it allows you to quickly arrange and organize the keywords you have selected in a way that best suits your plan. With the “Saved keywords” feature, you can be sure that all the keywords you plan to use are in one convenient location.

Now that you have the keywords, you are ready to start forecast search volume.
We will cover this in the next article.

So What Does it All Mean?

Using Google AdWords is an art form to some degree. It takes practice and, sometimes, plain old “trial and error” to maximize your spending on this platform.
