Local independent pharmacy celebrates 10 years in business

Vic Johnson has been a pharmacist for nearly 39 years, and for 10 of those years, he has owned and operated an independent pharmacy in south Augusta. Johnson, owner of Living Well Pharmacy located at 3736 Mike Padgett Highway, near Food Lion and next door to Southern Family Medical Center, officially opened the business on March 20, 2013. Thanks to declining attendance, Augusta hasn’t had a bridal show since before the pandemic began. But a local wedding planning business is hosting an event of its own. Big box flooring retailer to open CSRA location

A national retailer that sells and installs various types of flooring is bringing a new location to Augusta. Floor & Décor, which has more than 200 locations nationwide, is currently building a store at 110 Mason McKnight Junior Parkway, near Northern Tool + Equipment, CarMax, and other big box retailers. Like Home Depot and Lowe’s, Floor & Décor offers a variety of flooring options, including tile, stone, laminate, and vinyl. The Augusta Today Facebook page recently announced that the store is coming to Augusta, which was met with mixed reactions.

First boba tea franchise of it’s kind coming soon to the CSRA

A local plastic surgeon and his business partner are about to open the first Georgia location of a California-based boba tea company. By the end of May, Dr. Troy Austin, owner of Southeastern Aesthetic Surgery, and his girlfriend, Skyler Byrd plan to open a Teaspoon franchise at 623 Mullins Colony Drive, next to Crumbl Cookies in Evans. Local businesses partner with non-profit blood center to host drives

ATC Development, which owns and operates various apartment communities throughout the CSRA, recently hosted a blood drive for a non-profit donation center, according to Faith Meador. Meador, the company’s marketing coordinator, said they held the drive last Thursday and collected 15-20 donations in five hours. “We are partnering with The Blood Connection to host more blood drives at our other properties this year as well and our average community houses 200-300 people,” she said. 2nd annual home show battles pricing/competition

More than 4,000 people attended last year’s CASA Home Show, but Blane Bailey is expecting an even bigger turnout this year. Bailey, President and CEO of TranterGrey Media, a local marketing and advertising firm, is organizing the event, which will be held on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Columbia County Exhibition Center in Grovetown. “I’m expecting over 5,000 people this year,” he said. “We’ve sold five times the tickets we sold in the same time period last year.”

$68 million investment will create more than 1000 jobs in CSRA

A Vietnam-based company that makes and retreads large, commercial vehicle tires will build a manufacturing plant near Fairfax in Allendale County. The facility will be the first U.S. location for Tin Thanh Group Americas. More than 60 CSRA companies will participate in upcoming job fair

Many business owners will agree that good help is hard to find, but Aiken Technical College wants to help connect local employers with qualified applicants. The college will host its Spring 2023 Community Job Fair on Wednesday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the college’s gymnasium, which is in the 900 building. The event is open to the public. Local law firms to compete in statewide hunger relief fundraiser

Last year, attorneys and law firms throughout the state raised more than $880,000, the equivalent of about 3.5 million meals, to feed hungry Georgia families. Of that, local legal organizations raised a little over $33,000, which allowed Golden Harvest Food Bank to provide 99,000 of those meals, thanks in large part to five CSRA firms.
