A multi-million dollar renovation will bring one of Augusta Technical College’s in-demand training programs to Walton Way and 12th Street. The former Johnson Motor Company is being re-purposed to house the automotive training programs available at Augusta Tech. Family of beloved business owner gives endowment in his name

Donald Cheeks built his career in the machine tool industry, from being a machinist to operations manager, to owning and leading the Southeastern Tool Company. One of Richmond County’s newest corporate citizens has presented scholarships to four students at Augusta Technical College (ATC). The financial aid from Aurubis Richmond, LLC came through its Women4Metals program. The goal of the program is to attract more women to the metal industry while filling more expert and leadership positions with women. Members of the Joint Study Committee on Dual Enrollment for Highly Skilled Talent at Young Ages met on Oct. 11 to discuss final recommendations.
