Construction projects that will grow workforce development for jobs

Ambitious projects at Aiken Technical College and the Aiken County Public School District will create new pathways for workforce development. Aiken Tech will build a new, state-of-the-art Nursing Education Center. The school district will replace its aging Career and Technology Center with a new facility. The combination will allow both institutions to expand educational programs to train future job seekers in myriad fields. The school district has started looking at fields that are in demand and growing. “We’ve talked about a few specifics, particularly with cyber,” said Superintendent King Laurence.

Local car wash business gives free washes for a year

For many drivers, keeping their vehicles clean requires frequent trips to the car wash and monthly charges, but the owners of a new North Augusta car wash just gave one of its customers free washes for a year. On Friday, Moby’s Car Wash located at 421 East Martintown Road held its grand opening celebration with a ribbon cutting by the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce. Ever since Corry D’Alessandro launched her home-based dessert business last summer, the New Jersey native has looked for ways to give back to the local community, which is why she has volunteered to provide treats for people in their final days, weeks, and months of life. For years, Richard Mayson has planned to open a garden center in North Augusta, but next month, his plans will finally come to fruition. Mayson, owner of Riverside Antiques & Treasures located at 646 East Buena Vista Ave., is preparing for the grand opening of the year-round outdoor center, which will be held Friday, May 12 through Sunday, May 14. Growing up in the Augusta area, Gary Nistler trained in taekwondo at a martial arts academy that, at the time, was located in Anderson Plaza on Bobby Jones Expressway. Last chance for advance air show tickets

Look! Up in the air! It’s an air show that hasn’t happened in 20 years! The two-day event returns to the Augusta Regional Airport on May 13 and 14, but advance ticket sales end on Monday, April 24. General Admission for adults is $31.50 and children for $23.25 and it includes a parking pass. There are also preferred seating tickets and lawn boxes.
